Basquiat Wall Art
Painted in 1981 this artwork is a sharp critique on members of Basquiat's own race. By depicting a Negro policeman, he is making a conscious effort to show how African-Americans are controlled by the white majority in America. Basquiat found it utterly ironic that any African-American would be a policeman, working to enforce rules that were meant to enslave themselves.

For your ease of shopping, we offer 7 standard landscape/portrait sizes, and 6 square sizes, of which all are available as ready-to-hang mounted canvas (with or without a floating frame) and all but the largest size are available as framed prints (behind glass).
The standard sizes reflect the outside dimensions of the frame or canvas.
For framed prints - within those dimensions sits the frame, mounting card, and print.
For mounted canvas - outside those dimensions sits the 10mm space and 10mm floating frame (if chosen).
The table below shows the exact dimensions of each element of each product, although we also make-to-order bespoke sizes for a small surcharge.

Printing
We only list art & photography that can be printed up to 3m in size at 300dpi resolution.
On photographs taken a long time ago you may see some graininess, or the canvas texture in some artworks, but this is how the original looks and how it is meant to be reproduced - you never see pixelation in canvas or framed prints from Pixalot, whichever size you purchase.
The in-situ renders you see here are low resolution for website speed purposes, but you are welcome to request a section of the high resoltion image to see the detail you will see on your purchase.
We print on a colour calibrated Epson printer for picture-perfect results.

Because we also manufacture for top interior designers and luxury decor brands, we do not import cheap product from China, unlike other wall art suppliers.
We make-to-order in our studio in Cape Town, using the highest quality materials and most skilled local craftsmen. We use only the finest wood frames (black, white, ash wood) canvas, mounting card and glass available, and whereas most retailers use 25mm subframes, we stretch the canvas over 45mm subframes, which gives it gravitas on the wall.
All products come ready-to-hang with the necessary brackets, screws and wall plugs.

The framed images and mirrors can be cleaned with standard window cleaner for the glass and a damp cloth on the frames. Please don't use chemicals on the frames.
The canvases come with a protective matt varnish applied, and should also be cleaned only with a damp cloth, not chemicals.
For JHB, KZN, WC free delivery is 7-10 days from order, or Priority Service in 5-7 days for R250 per order. For other provinces, the cost is automatically calculated at checkout and is estimated to arrive 10 days from order.
The morning after your order is dispatched, you will receive an email notification with the tracking link and direct contact details of our courier partner. We find it better if customers contact them directly for any special delivery instructions.
Please check your order on delivery. Should there be any damage, send it back with the courier and we will replace it immediately.
