Our Canvas

We use lightweight canvas made of blended cotton that’s water resistant, durable and heavy duty. Our canvases come with a protective matt varnish and should only be cleaned with a damp cloth.

Our Mounts

Medium-density fibreboard (MDF) is used for the mounting frames because it’s hardwearing and doesn’t warp or protrude into the canvas over time. We stretch the canvas over 45mm subframes which gives it a strong and sturdy look, whereas most suppliers use 25mm subframes.

Our Frames

We offer the finest 22mm wood frames in a choice of black, white and ash wood. All products come ready-to-hang with the necessary brackets, screws and wall plugs.

Our Images

We source spectacular images from some of the most talented photographers & artists around the world. Our images are high resolution and print with perfect clarity up to 3m in size. We print on a colour calibrated Epsom printer for picture perfect results. Photographers & artists can also sell their work through Pixalot which saves you the hassle of printing, marketing and couriering the final products around the country.

We offer 7 landscape/portrait standard sizes and 6 square sizes. All are available as mounted canvas, with our without a frame. The largest size is available as framed prints (behind glass). We also make-to-order bespoke sizes for a small surcharge.

Pixalot is based in Cape Town and delivers nationwide. We aim to get your wall art to you within 5 working days of receiving the order. We use skilled craftsmen who make each art piece by hand, and this takes 4-5 days. For a small surcharge, there is Express Delivery option at checkout.

This is decision based on budget and size.

Framed prints (behind glass) are more expensive than mounted canvases, but look more refined and are especially good for photographic wall art. Choosing a black, white or wood frame can help to tie together the room with the image itself. The colour of the printed image is also slightly more vivid on paper than on canvas which absorbs more of the ink. Framed prints are available up to 1.5m. Frames can also be reused in the future by replacing the print.

However, canvas wall art is very cost-effective, looks a little more authentic for art prints (v's photography prints), and can be printed up to 2.75m. It also weighs less than the framed options and is therefore easier to hang. Choosing a black, white, wood floating frame around the canvas elevates it considerably.

Yes - one of the most important sizing rules when you buy wall art is to select the right size and scale for the wall space available. If your custom wall art is too small for a room, it’ll make the entire room and the furnishings in it feel out of balance and out of scale.

We do sell loose prints & rolled canvases on request, often to those who need to transport them overseas. The price is the same as the Mounted Canvas option. To order, purchase the Mounted Canvas option in the size you would like and simply add "loose print" or "rolled canvas" in the cart notes section. We'll then dispatch the art to you in a cardboard tube.

Our workshop & studio is in Goodwood, Cape Town. However, because we make-to-order we do not display pre-made wall art in a gallery setting, we are an online store only.

Pixalot makes it easy and convenient to turn a favourite photo into striking wall art. We also use cutting edge software to enhance & upscale almost any image to almost any size! You are welcome to email your photo to use at pix@pixalot.co.za & we will show you how the enhanced printed version will look, before you order.

Yes, although we offer 8 standard portrait & landscape sizes, as well as 6 square sizes, that suit most customer needs, if you need your wall art in a specific size that is not in our range, we can do that for you, no problem. Drop us an email at pix@pixalot.co.za with the dimensions you have in mind and we will quote you accordingly.

As soon as your order is placed our print studio prepare the image for high resolution printing, and the framing workshop prepare the frame for the glass or canvas size you have chosen. Once complete, the finishing team will assemble the order and quality check it. Once signed off, the order is carefully packaged ready for dispatch & the collection is booked with our courier partner.

For JHB, KZN, WC free delivery is 7-10 days from order, or Priority Service in 5-7 days for R250 per order.

For other provinces, the cost is automatically calculated at checkout and is estimated to arrive 10 days from order.

The morning after your order is dispatched, you will receive an email notification with the tracking link and direct contact details of our courier partner. We find it better if customers contact them directly for any special delivery instructions.

Please check your order on delivery. Should there be any damage, do not sign for it, and ask the courier to return it to us. We will then repair or replace it asap.

If the package is not checked when received, replacements will not be given at a later date.

Pixalot uses high quality, imported canvas, sophisticated UV printing technology and expert craftsmanship to produce the highest quality canvas and framed prints. The lifespan of wall art for sale at Pixalot depends on where it’s placed and how it’s treated. Avoid hanging your wall art in direct sunlight and follow our tips to keep your canvas prints in perfect condition so you can enjoy them for many years.

Canvas wall art only fades if it’s placed where it gets direct sunlight. Solar UV rays are the worst thing for canvas prints so to avoid fading, choose where you hang your prints carefully. When sunlight strikes canvas wall art, solar UV radiation causes a reaction within the colouring agent and breaks up chemical bonds. The ink then changes significantly at a molecular level, breaks down and eventually fades.

Canvas wall art lasts longer when it is regularly dusted. Use a slightly damp microfiber cloth to gently wipe down the sides and front of the canvas print. Never spray water directly onto canvas wall art.

Because of the personalised nature of the image, size and frame you choose, refunds or replacements cannot be granted for a change-of-mind.

However, replacements are manufactured and sent immediately for incorrect orders, and in the instance that an order arrives damaged. Photographic proof of the damage needs to be sent immediately on receipt of the order. If the package is not checked when received, replacements cannot be given at a later date.

We print on a high specification Epson printer, and all orders are QC checked for colour and quality comparison with the website image prior to dispatch. However, should the product arrive markedly different from how it is shown on the website, please send photographic proof of your concerns, and a replacement will be immediately manufactured and sent.
